I am a certified Restorative Exercise Specialist™ living and working in Toronto, Canada- but before that, I was a lawyer and a lover of the hard-core: long distance running, Crossfit, mountain biking and snowboarding, until nagging chronic injuries started to turn into serious complaints.
Despite years of treatment, the pain and injuries didn’t go away until I discovered Restorative Exercise – a revolutionary new approach to health and movement. Once I found it, there was no looking back. I now teach full-time and love to help others learn this amazing technique. I believe that your body was made to move. But a lifetime of shoes, chairs, and artificial environments have forced your body to adapt, leading to compensation patterns that cause disease and injury. To create vibrant, life-long health, you need to change your movement habits and learn how to give your body the vital movement nutrients it depends on. |

Petra is an excellent instructor who is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and supportive with the ability to keep me motivated during classes and making me want to come back for more. She has taught me how lifestyle, poor alignment and inadequate movement have an impact on my health and contribute to my aches and pains. Petra is able to pinpoint the exact area of weakness and provide customized movements to affect change. I have improved strength and stamina as well as pelvic floor function without pain, strain and soreness that traditional exercise classes often produce. Her classes are suitable for all fitness levels and adapted to the needs of each participant.

Q: What do you like best about Petra's classes?
Petra's classes always feel 'easy' to go to. I never have that inevitable "Ugh..." that comes just before going to a workout or yoga class. I think instead- "Yes! What will I learn about my body today?!". I think a lot of that has to do with the casual, unpretentious, curious environment that is created by Petra.
Q: How have Petra's classes improved your health, your life, your sport or your body?
This work has me paying attention to my body in an entirely different way. When something aches in my back, I wonder about my toes... When my neck has a crick, I consider my butt... The inter-connectivity of my body and further how my context, and history has informed it's patterns is slowly becoming clearer and clearer.
Q: What would you most like other people to know about Petra's classes at Boomerang?
This is a class that comes without the helping of shame, and body-self-consciousness that can often accompany a workout and instead with a scoop of empowering knowledge and a sense of curiosity about how to support your health.
