Sandra MolyneauxGroup mat classes & Private/ semi-private sessionsIn 2010 after abdominal surgery I realized I could no longer sit cross-legged on the floor.
Is this a problem you might ask? It was for me because I was a Kindergarten teacher who often sat on the floor to interact, play and learn with my students. I needed a solution and this brought me to my neighbourhood Pilates studio, Boomerang. Lo and behold, after a fairly short period of time, I could sit cross-legged on the floor once more. I was hooked! I began to attend Pilates classes on a regular basis for many years, and always relished in the afterglow of each class. Fast forward to retirement as a school teacher and I began, as one does, to think about what’s next. I knew I wanted to learn something new, keep my body moving, maintain my flexibility and continue to build strength in my body. I started to wonder, how does Pilates work? Why do I feel so good afterwards? I realized Pilates engages the mind and body together and I really connected with that. So I decided to merge my two passions, teaching and Pilates, to become a Pilates teacher. I enjoy blending contemporary exercises with the classical Pilates repertoire, and using small props to add fun and interest to class. I’m hoping to share the joy of Pilates with others who are curious about movement, the mind/body connection, and seek to improve their health and well-being.
