Alison Crouch, OwnerGroup classes, Workshops, Private instruction & Teacher TrainingYou: curious about how your body moves and wanting develop a loving, positive relationship with yourself, your body and a sustainable approach to movement.
Also you: strong & healthy and looking for a deeper Pilates experience or maybe managing pelvic floor issues, back pain, fatigue and stress, hypermobility or osteoporosis. Me: totally excited to teach you, share with you and learn from you! |
I love movement education and believe that everyone can benefit from an understanding of how and why the body moves. My teaching is detailed and nuanced (with a dash of humour and a bit of sass) because I want to share that understanding with all my clients while they have fun!
Everybody has their own movement history and that narrative informs what I teach and how I teach it whether that means using different movement modalities or a different instructional narrative that respects injury or previous life experiences. As a trauma-informed practitioner it is my honour to create a safe space for clients to move and learn.
Whether you are an elite athlete or a weekend walker, whether you manage chronic pain or want to get the most out of your vibrant active lifestyle, you will thrive with a movement practice that includes choreographed and functional movement and a healthy dose of what/ how/why!
I teach mat classes and 1:1 sessions (although my private schedule is usually full. Email to get on my wait list if you can't find a spot through the booking button below). Head to the schedule to find me on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays for group classes!
Please note: I'm not taking on new private clients at this time. The other teachers at the studio are wonderful! Emily and Sandra are both BoneFit trained if you're looking for osteoporosis work and I absolutely trust them.

osteoporosis & pilates
If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia and want to find ways to move that support your bone health safely, I can help! I know what you're facing, since I was diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis in my mid-50's, despite my active lifestyle and well-rounded nutrition.
I'm a Bone Fit exercise specialist, certified by Osteoporosis Canada. I have both the lived experience of having low bone density AND all the latest information about how to help you move best!
Having osteoporosis means you need to move more, not less. But the recommendations can be confusing, scary or inconsistent. Or you may not have been given any movement recommendations at all!
You may have been told to avoid the flexion of traditional Pilates, but my whole body approach is different. We don't flex, but you can do lots of other things. We move in all the ways you need to be strong, mobile and get a fun workout.
My group classes are all bone-friendly and if you want a personalized approach, let's find time for a 1:1 session to get you started! Of course, you don't have to have osteo to join my classes, but know that I'll take care of you if you do!
Looking for more? I love my online program Osteoporosis: the MoveSMART Method! It's a comprehensive, deeply personal approach to movement and exercise for osteoporosis and osteopenia. You have life long access to the detailed program hub plus 12 weeks of small group coaching with me in our amazing zoom sessions. We meet on Thursdays at 2 pm ET and alternate Fridays at 8:30 pm ET and of course every meet up is recorded in case you're busy. It's a wonderful community of people who truly understand what it's like to live and thrive with osteoporosis!
Want help choosing the best approach? Book a free osteoporosis mentorship call with me! We'll map out the best path to manage your bone health and get you that active, strong, vibrant life you crave!
My background
I started out teaching Pilates 20 years ago and continued to evolve my teaching as a restorative movement specialist, Roll Model Method self-massage teacher, Functional Range Conditioning coach and Movement for Trauma practitioner. I learn from and communicate with leading professionals in the movement world regularly so that my practice never stops growing!
I mentor and coach other teachers both privately and in groups and have now created the Move SMART program. Sustainable Movement & Authentic Teaching is for all modalities of teachers and for therapeutic body-work professionals who prescribe exercise, because good teaching skills surpass all the boundaries of style and content.
Movement and exercise are not the same things....
All exercise is movement but not all movement is exercise. My approach goes beyond the studio; take pleasure in learning to incorporate Pilates and Restorative Exercise principles in your daily life for better balance, strength, flexibility and trust in your amazing body! Use the work you do with me to enhance your joy in movement through all the rest of your life!
